It’s only halfway through the month, but I thought it was time to share some December musings with you all. As it is the Christmas holiday season, it’s the season for parties and prosecco! I’ve spent the past week at a couple of Christmas meals, drinking countless cups of mulled wine and prosecco, and touring the Stadtschloss in Wiesbaden.
Christmas Market and Stadtschloss Wiesbaden
This past week, I’ve been fairly busy with a client trip, numerous visits to the gym, and seeing friends. My trip took me to Wiesbaden in Germany for the first part of the week, and part of my visit involved seeing the Stadschloss Wiesbaden, as well as some mulled wine at the Christmas market, and a nice steak dinner.
The Stadschloss (translated meaning: city castle) boasted a fantastic view of the Christmas market in Wiesbaden, which looked absolutely magical:
Inside the castle itself, there were a number of beautiful chandeliers, which flooded the different rooms with light. The second of the two chandeliers pictured below was obviously my favourite, as it was huge and looked extremely beautiful. The castle boasted a ballroom, which had some interesting fixtures inside it, including foldable mirrors which slid over the windows in the room. The mirrors made the room even brighter, and made it look even larger than it is.
Work Christmas Do
The end of my week was pretty busy as well, with my work Christmas party happening on Friday evening. For this particular event, we went ice skating at the Natural History Museum in Kensington, London. Unfortunately I stacked it after about 10 minutes, and my feet decided to cramp up shortly after as well. After a short break on the sidelines, I took another couple of spins around the rink and then called it a day. I decided to have a cup of mulled wine with a couple of colleagues, on the side, and waited for everyone else to join us half an hour later.
The rest of the evening involved a nice three-course meal at Banter & Scoff in Kensington, and a quick drink at a pub before we all headed home. My meal consisted of three courses:
- A starter of bacon, chicken, and avocado salad
- A main of broccoli and cheese pie with chips
- A dessert of apple crumble with vanilla custard
Weekend Lunch & Drinks
The weekend went by fairly quickly with me visiting Selfridges for the rest of my Christmas shopping and a yummy lunch at Yo Sushi on Saturday. Sunday was spent having a nice lunch with the bestie at Tried and True in Putney, and prosecco, tea and cake at Bill’s.
All in all, I would say this past week has been successful and filled with Christmas cheer. Exactly the kind of week I like to have during the holiday season. I am excited to see what next week brings, with more Christmas meals and the actual Christmas event coming up!
