Today was the first day in a couple of months that my friend Haley and I decided to go for a gym class and brunch afterwards. I hadn’t been going to the gym for a few weeks as my shoulder has been acting up, but luckily I’ve been able to get back into it more regularly now.
Our usual routine involves heading to Virgin Active Aldersgate for Body Combat, and then venturing to Workshop Coffee on Clerkenwell Road. We did exactly that only to find that Workshop had closed down (luckily there are still four other venues in London). Instead of venturing to one of the other venues, however, we decided to try out something new: Look Mum No Hands on Old Street.
Funnily enough I’ve walked past Look Mum No Hands multiple times back when I still worked in Farringdon, but I never realised it was actually a fantastic little brunch spot!
I decided to opt for a breakfast tea and the smoked salmon breakfast with poached eggs. The tea was probably a little too strong as I left the leaves in for too long, but the salmon breakfast was amazing. The smoked salmon was slightly warmed, and it came with some very yummy, lemony smashed avocado on rye.
The setting itself is pretty quirky, as it doubles as bike gear shop. The establishment is nice and roomy, with lots of space to sit inside and outside, perfect for any kind of weather.
I would recommend Look Mum No Hands for anyone looking for a casual brunch place to chill out with friends, or for a very casual date (i.e. perhaps a first date). There are two venues, one on Old Street and one by London Bridge. Both are definitely not romantic spots, but they are perfect as relaxed settings with good food, good tea and most likely good coffee as well.
As always, thank you for reading Coffee Guaranteed. x
